With only 3 players departing the club until now, Leicester is one of the least busy teams on the transfer front this season. The East Midlands club is on the verge of signing their new card for the already established deck in the form of Patson Daka and Boubakary Soumare according to Fabrizio Romano.
The departure of the veteran Cristian Fuchs to Charlotte left a void in the left-back role of the club. And with not many good options in the department, it is only a matter of time before the foxes make a move to look for a promising left-back in order to strengthen their defensive armory.
The 6.2 French defensive midfielders might not be the fastest option in the middle of the pitch for The Foxes, but his raw physicality, aided with the mentality to not fall back from a challenge are the key attributes Leicester will be looking for. After a great season in League 1 with the champions Lille last season, the midfielder will be more than prepared for a bigger challenge in the greener pastures of the Premier League.
Soumare is more of a defensive presence on the field as he is rarely found to make a direct contribution in the attack. He has a passing success rate of 86.6% and a tendency of playing 2.4 long balls per game. Soumare averages 2 tackles per 90, with 1.8 total interceptions in the same time. For a defensive midfielder, Soumare has great dribbling ability. He manages 1.4 successful dribbles per 90.
Only 22 years old, Boubakary Soumare has a lot of room for growth. He is already a fine technical prospect with great control on the ball as well as good in distributing the ball. Unlike most of the physical players, he has good agility with the ball and tends to move the ball from the deeper areas helps to link up plays with the midfield.
The most notable area of his game has to be his aerial presence. With a leviathan 188 meter height, there are few competitors who will find it easy to deal with him in aerial duels. The midfielder is also one of Europe's best in ball progression.
Soumare usually receives his passes from the supporting fullbacks or wingers who drop deep. Rather than moving up the field, the midfielder tends to sit deep with the fall and find his teammates in the advanced midfield areas or to attacking wingers.
Even though a huge bargain for a reported fee of 20 million euro, with a midfield packed with players the likes of Tielemanns, Maddison and, Ndidi, where does Soumare fall in the plans of Brendan Rodgers?
On the other hand, the signing of Zambian forward Patson Daka also raises some eyebrows as well. The Red Bull Salzburg forward is soon joining Leicester City in a bid to compete with Jamie Vardy and Iheanacho for the starter role in the squad.
The Austrian Bundesliga player of the year(2020-21) has registered 27 goals and 7 assists in only 27 league appearances last season. Another player on his 22, Daka will probably be a signing Brendan Rodgers will have kept on his head to replace the aging Jamie Vardy. The attacker can also be played in the attacking wings as he is versatile enough to adapt to wide roles.
The possible left-back candidate for Leicester is rumored to be Robin Gosens of Germany.
