Should West Ham be Looking for Nat Phillips to Bolster Their Defense?

Nathaniel Phillips was yet another revelation for the Reds after a spree of injuries to their backline.

Nat Phillips is under the radar of many English Premier League Clubs including West Ham, Newcastle, Burnley, and Brighton. The center-back is estimated to have a market value of £15 m and is likely to move out of Anfield for more game time.

Although many would complain that the Liverpool defense could have done better last campaign, it would be an injustice for the player considering the fact that he stepped up for the team in the time of an injury-filled crisis and did more than enough to play a part in securing a Champions League spot.

Considered by many to be below par for Premier League football, the academy graduate really did himself justice and proved himself capable of dealing with the pressure of playing in the top tier of English football.

The defender managed to average 1.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 4.8 clearances, and 0.8 blocks per game in 17 Premier League appearances for Liverpool. An impressive average of 5.6 aerial duels also sets him as one of the most capable players in aerial situations.

His showing in the last campaign has got clubs to take a closer look at the player. One of which happens to be David Moyes's West Ham.

Everyone seems to be interested in having a piece of Nat, according to James Pearce at The Athletic. It is believed that the defender's value may be hovering somewhere around £15 million. With many parties like Bayer Leverkusen, Newcastle, Burnley, and Brighton reported to be interested in the player, there is a lot of options for Phillips to go for and find his perfect fit.

With Ibrahima Konate arriving this summer and other first-choice defensive options returning to fitness, it is evident that it is about time that the center-back starts exploring his options.

The 24-year-old has been under the radar of West Ham for quite a while and it is deemed that a move to the London Stadium is highly likely for the center-back this summer.
